Jonathan and Josclin

In many ways, trees provide us with a beautiful picture of what love and marriage are like. Think about a young and growing tree that you have seen, and now think about the beginning of the marriage relationship.  Just as the tree may look small, the young married couple can only boast having been married for a day, a week or a month.  But if you look below the surface of one of those young trees, or below the surface of a newly married couple like Jonathan and Josclin, you will find roots that have been planted, and are growing deep.  These roots are strong and hard to break.  They never cease to reach further in search of life-giving nourishment that will encourage and ensure growth and stability.  I know that Jonathan and Josclin have these types of roots, and so it was fitting that they were married at the Daugherty Tree Farm, beneath the branches of an enormous pine tree.

The surrounding hills were dotted with trees, young and old, that might someday soon be decorated and lit in a living room at Christmas time.  The huge barn that houses the cut trees in the winter time had been meticulously cleaned and decorated.  Chairs were set up in the shadow of the beautifully restored farmhouse and underneath the branches of a spectacular pine tree.  Friends and family traveled from near and far, and watched joyfully as Jonathan and Josclin became husband and wife.  After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a delicious dinner, lawn games and the company of loved ones.  In place of a traditional wedding cake, Jonathan and Josclin opted for an assortment of pies from Priory Fine Pastries in Pittsburgh.  (If you are ever in the area, you HAVE to try a pie from Priory. Delicious!)  As the evening wound down, the newlyweds made their getaway, and began their adventure as husband and wife.

Jonathan and Josclin, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your big day!  It was an honor to help you celebrate, and I wish you much joy and happiness in your marriage.  Keep growing your roots deep toward the Source of Life, and the reach of your marriage relationship will bring protection, enjoyment, relief and comfort to many!
